LA-AID assists detained and released immigrants. We have helped over 20,000 immigrants since January of 2021 in the now 10 detention centers in Louisiana and the 1 detention center in Mississippi. Airports or greyhound bus stations are an hour to two hours from all but one detention center. We provide transport, hosting, meals, and ticket assistance to released immigrants. We do visitation and support with medical advocacy.
LA-AID has volunteer groups in Lafayette, Alexandria, Shreveport, Monroe, Ruston, Baton Rouge and Natchez, MS. We partner with immigrant rights organizations in New Orleans. LaAID is a 501(c)(3) organization.
