Immigration Advocates Network

The Immigration Advocates Network is linked to the right under Allied Organizations, but we wanted to highlight this organization and their work. From their site:

“The Immigration Advocates Network (IAN), a program of Pro Bono Net, is dedicated to expanding access to immigration legal resources and information through collaboration and technology. . . . We create our own tools, build platforms for others, and work with partners to harness the power of technology and collective action to better support immigrants and their advocates.”

The IAN has six projects on immigration, each of which goes to a specific issue. LA-AID activists, advocating for individual migrants, may want to be aware of the support the IAN projects can offer.

International Migrants Day

KRVS Interview with Nell Hahn

Our organizer Nell Hahn was interviewed December 16 on “Bayou to Beltway,” the political interview program by Pearson Cross on radio KRVS. KRVS is the radio station of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where Dr. Cross is a political scientist and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

Garrett Felber

An award winning scholar of mass incarceration, and an advocate for prisoners has been dismissed from the University of Mississippi.

This podcast gives some information on his work, that includes a prison literacy program and the Parchman Oral History Project.

It would be desirable to find ways to continue Felber’s work after he is gone.
