These are thank-you notes from people we have given rides to or hosted:

Karen asked me what it had meant to me to receive a letter in detention. I say it is very important because we see there is someone who remembers us, even when it’s a person we don’t know who is writing. When I received your letters I was filled with hope, and saw that there were still people in the world with kind feelings, who think of their neighbors. That is really important for building a better world, to have more love and solidarity. I am very grateful to everyone GOD placed in my path. I had help from other people, as well as Karen, and I will be grateful forever…. Thank you so much.

“My name is…. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Madame KAREN of LA-AID for the effort you are doing to help those immigrants in detention in PINE PRAIRIE PROCESSING CENTER LOUISIANA especially the Africans and Cameroonians in particular. I hope GOD would continue to bless you so that more people would be release in Jesus name.”

Good morning and many blessings infinite thanks for everything you have done for us you are really marvelous people we wish you much health a happy new year and may God support you thank you so much nobody could know the sufferings we have undergone infinite greetings. To Ms. Karen a marvelous woman for her love and patience.

“Dear people of Good Will. My name is …, Cameroonian by nationality, an immigrant who was detained at the Pine Prairie Ice Processing Center Louisiana for 16 months. I want to Thank the entire LA-AID family for the tremendous hospitality and assistance rendered to me by Y’all. You guys furthermore linked up with Miles 4 Migrants who paid me a very comfortable flight to re-unite with my family. I think God blessed your organization by providing to you Miss Karen who for just a day put back all the smiles to our faces. At a point where I thought all was gone, you guys made me know there is a lot more to offer in life. May God bless you all endlessly and I shall definitely pay you back in the same coin. God bless you.”

First of all good morning, I am grateful for the help you have given me, thank God everywhere in the world there are people who help us migrants. I hope that you will always continue to lend aid to the people who really need your unconditional support, I wish you many blessings in the name of our Lord, and I will never forget this moment.

From both of us we want to thank you for everything and I know and I am sure that life will compensate you perhaps not with material things but with something more fundamental: the health of you and your family is and rest assured that we will always remember this moment when our dreams and desires have just begun since life shows us once more that when someone wants something they have to fight for it no matter how hard [but fight no matter how many times you fall but how many times you get up that we are immigrants yes It is true but with goals and purposes after suffering so much in a country eclipsed from the reality of the world where there is so little resource and the need for us to wake up with the happiness of even having a piece of bread for our children and where we are far away to be able to say what we think and much less to express what we feel and come to a country where it is admired by everyone in the world and this kind of thing happens with those experienced by many here in Louisiana where the prisons are so extreme and desolate that they make you see freedom like being born again prisons where they mistreat you both physically and mentally to the point of feeling that everything is lost, your marriage, your family and even your friends, but hey, it would be a good idea for whoever reads this to keep in mind that color, religion and race do not matter, we are all the same and remember that the most important thing in life is not who you criticize if you have not noticed your defects well and this is for all those who got stuck on the road, those who are walking it, and those who have already arrived for all those warriors my warmest greetings and remember this as my mother told me Learn as if you were going to live your whole life and live as if you were going to die tomorrow Thank you.

“Thanks very much. I will always be praying for you, for the good work you have done for us. Finally Free, from Cameroon.”

Thank you and your organization very much for helping. My husband and I were enemies of politicians in Belarus, and in order to save our lives we had to apply for political asylum in the United States. We’ve come a long way to get here, we don’t have any friends or family, the only person I know is my husband. My husband and I have very little money so your help for us is a gift from God. Thank you for agreeing to help and God bless you.
